My Writing

This website is publicly offered as information for expatriation issues and is contingent on the reader’s prior understanding that the author(s) and publisher(s) of the site's material accept no responsibility of any kind for conclusions reached by readers of this website or the author's books and articles. If you do not agree with these terms, do not read the website...It is just that simple!

FREE 6-Day Spanish Course!

I have sought from the beginning of my writing endeavors to present a more balanced view of what it is like for an American living in Mexico and specifically GUANAJUATO. From the very start, I thought that what existed on the market, material directed toward potential expatriates, presented an image that moving to Mexico was like a Fantasy Island Welcoming Party where there is nothing but sugar and spice and everything nice waiting for the American who wants to live in Mexico. Mexico is too often presented as something it is not. Most so-called expats move from America to South of the Border based on Mexico as a Concept and Not a Reality. Some of those Americans who have moved to some areas of Mexico which the Mexican nationals have named, "GRINGOLANDIA", have resented, to the point of threatening violence, the picture I have painted of their existence in my books and articles. I have received death wishes, threats, and there was even one event in which someone or someones may have attempted to end my life because of the things I've written.

I invite you to read my articles accessible from this website and if you can some of my books. Then use the form on this page to tell me what you think. I have always been an advocate of free speech. Let's throw on the table the issues and take them apart and put them back together. Convince me of your argument through persuasive speech. However, do not threaten me because I might have a point-of-view which differs from your own. That is not free speech.

Many from the expat communities of San Miguel de Allende and the city of Guanajuato, where we live, think free speech is calling someone names, telling someone off, using all manner of personal attacks having nothing to do with the points of the argument. Some of them think threatening to do someone harm is free speech. I have saved these comments to a private file and I will freely share them if requested.

Please tell me what you think. Let's talk. Let's have a free exchange of ideas in which we attempt to use intelligently conceived words to demonstrate our reason!

Any threats will be posted online with the email addresses and the authorities will be notified.
